I’m totally with you, especially on the candied peel. Ugh. It ruins fruitcake. You’re recipe is similar to mine. I use LOTS of candied fruit and dried fruit and not too much batter. Not so much booze after it’s baked. I also love plum pudding, which I used to sell when I lived in Mendocino. Thank you so much for this.
